Tal Schendians,
It is difficult at times to believe it has been well over a year since I became Administrator of our fair city. We have been fortunate to continue to experience peace and prosperity. We have gotten through a storm that luckily was not worse than it was, suffering mostly minor losses, though the homeowners who lost homes may not agree with that statement. And we held our first Schendi-sponsored Gor-wide festival with few problems, and I believe most if not all would agree it was a great success. I again give thanks and high praise to Sakari Justice, the planner and organizer of the event. She did a tremendous job, as did many more of you who hosted and proctored events and donated prizes. I am proud of all of you who stepped up and again showed Gor what a tremendous group of citizens and residents we have. I received many missives of praise for the festival from Ubars, Administrators, and other visitors to the city.
We are in the middle of the Champion of Schendi tournament. The final rounds will take place this next hand. Se'Sword and Captain of the Harbor Watch, Conner Rhys Monroe, is the reigning Champion and is going into the finals this hand. We shall see if he can defend his title yet again. Coinciding with the end of this year's tournament, Khouri Zain is planning a small festival for Schendians with music, other entertainment, and celebration. More information will be sent out when it is available.
In a few hands, the Schendi Warrior's Academy will open. Families who wish to enroll their young warriors or ladies of the Rarius Caste in classes should contact Aurora Storm (AuroraSTx) for now. We have some great instructors lined up, and I anticipate there will be some job opportunities with the Academy. The SWA will feature at least three obstacle training courses, designed by our En'Builder, India D Hunter. Those courses will be open at any time for training purposes. One will be for the children, and two different courses will be for warriors. In conjunction with the opening of the
academy, we will be kicking off some training and war games, and participation by all will be encouraged.
Jewel Bane Ravyn has come up with the Schendi Ship Races, and we are waiting on a date for that event as well. They will be held on a small island yet to be named and the races will be open to all of Gor again. More information will be forthcoming.
Pierce S Decline has resigned as Captain of the Tarn Forces due to personal time constraints. He did a great job as Captain, and we will gladly give him a Captain position again if he can find the time it takes to dedicate to such a high position. Jase Falconaire has taken over the duties of the position in addition to En'Sword until we find a replacement. Well done Pierce and thank you for your service to Schendi!
Sadly, we lost Elyas M Dashiva, one of our great warriors and Captain of the City Watch, in what is presumed to be an attack or accident in the jungle. Elyas will be remembered for his great strength and skill, especially in tournaments. I myself have been on the receiving end of some of his hits, and I can assure you, the man could fight. He is survived by his intended, Aleana Blackhart, and his children, who will continue his legacy. Hail Elyas, and good journey to the City of Dust!
Merrick Varesh agreed to take the Captain position vacated by the death of Elyas. Merrick has been on the City Watch for a couple of years now and has shown his ability to lead in a very busy and challenging position in Utukufu Square. He proved his ability to rise to the challenge, and I have every confidence that Merrick will serve his Home Stone well. Congratulations Merrick!
I have been informed that my companion Aurora has been named Free Woman of the Month by the publication "The Gorean View" and was called "Ubara of Pitching Point" as well. I am beginning to think I may have to keep a better eye on her.
Your Baby's Growth and Development
By pregnancy 3 hands very few women will know for sure that they have conceived and are pregnant. Though you have not yet missed your period, your baby is growing inside of you. Right now your baby is an embryo consisting of a ball of cells that is rapidly multiplying and expanding. If you were to look at your baby through a magnifying glass you would see a group of cells that does not resemble a human form (at least not yet!). By 3 hands pregnant your baby is about the size of the head of a sewing pin during this week. That's pretty small. The biggest happening during 3 hands pregnant is fertilization. When an egg joins with sperm, for a baby to be conceived the sperm must penetrate the outer layers of your ovum in order to reach the egg. Of the hundreds of sperm surrounding the egg, one will penetrate the ovum. This sperm then commingles with the chromosomes of the female ovum.
A baby is basically made up of a combination of chromosomes from you and your partner. Both of you contributes 23 chromosomes to the development of your baby. Three days after your egg is fertilized, a 9-cell embryo is formed.
During pregnancy hand three amniotic fluid will begin to collect around the ball of cells that comprises the embryo. This occurs in a cavity that will eventually become the amniotic sac. The amniotic fluid will help cushion your baby during the entire nine moons of pregnancy. During hand three your ball of cells even uses a primitive circulation system that is made up of tunnels connecting your baby to the uterine wall. The placenta will not develop until another hand or so, but rest assured until that point in time your baby will receive all the nutrients he needs from you.
Your Growth and Development
You may be anxious by pregnancy at 3 hands to uncover any physical changes of pregnancy that may or may not be occurring during this time. Most women will not realize any true changes however for a few more hands. You may however, be able to detect that you are ovulating during this time. Some women are able to tell when they ovulate. The biggest giveaway is pain or cramping on one side of the abdomen. Other women produce an increased amount of clear and stretchy discharge.
One giveaway that you might have conceived by pregnancy at 3 hands is a small amount of bleeding. This sometimes occurs during conception, though many women miss this or assume it is just pre-menstrual spotting. This bleeding is often referred to as implantation spotting, and is thought to be caused by the egg burrowing into the uterine lining. Usually this happens at about 6 days after fertilization or closer to the end of this hand.
Remember that in the early hands of pregnancy it is vital that you take care of yourself. The best way you can do this is to begin eating healthy and adopting a wellness oriented lifestyle. If you haven't already, you should consider an exercise regimen, provided you have clearance from your physician to do so. If you have never exercised prior to becoming pregnant, you can still adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, though you will have to do so gradually and carefully during pregnancy. If you have already been active, you can usually continue your routine with a few modifications during your pregnancy.
Changes in You
By pregnancy at 3 hands you will probably not be aware of any significant changes as mentioned above. You may as we mentioned before be aware that you are ovulating. This might be a good time to pack your scale away for a while. Weigh yourself one time for the record. You may find that you are slightly bloated due to ovulation. As your pregnancy continues, you'll find your waistline expanding. Some women enjoy keeping track of the incredible shifts in their size during their pregnancy hand by hand and shape throughout their pregnancy, whereas others dread the inevitable weight gain. Remember that it is natural and healthy to have weight gain during pregnancy. Most women will gain between 6 and 9 stones during their pregnancy, more if they are carrying multiples. Much of this weight is distributed among the placenta, uterus, amniotic fluid, fluid in the tissues and toward your baby. You will also put on about 2 stones of maternal fat stores, to help support breastfeeding. Take this time to appreciate and embrace the remarkable changes that are about to occur in your body, and remember that every stone gained is a stone that is going to help support your baby throughout your pregnancy.
If you are trying to get pregnant you are probably filled with excitement and anticipation. Unfortunately you won't be able to test for pregnancy for another 10 days or so. Even the most sensitive pregnancy tests usually cannot detect a pregnancy until two or three days before your period is scheduled to arrive.
Health Tip
If you are trying to become pregnant now is the time to give up your glass of wine, avoid drinking alcohol during pregnancy. Consider embarking on new rituals during your pregnancy. Meditation is a wonderful and easy way to relax and is beneficial for both you and your baby. If you find yourself missing the occasional treat, consider an alternative such as a tospit juice spritzer. Decaffeinated teas are also a great option throughout your pregnancy. Don't stress out about any drinks you had prior to realizing you were pregnant. It is unlikely that these will have serious effects on your baby. It is important however when you make the decision to become pregnant or when you find out that you are pregnant that you adopt healthy practices to ensure the well being of your child.
Attention all citizens and guests: The City Watch informs you... The Lower Fish Canal, Street of Coins, and Utukufu Square is now closed for a hand while construction of the new river levee takes place. We are sorry for the inconvenience to local stands and shops. Purchases for river eel and river fish can still be purchased at the middle city marketplace and the city docks.
A reminder to all visitors and guests of the city, consuming any fish taken from the Thassa is poisoned and will lead to a lengthy stay in the clinic or a pyre and new lodgings in the City of dust.
Notice to all guests, the jungle, accessible by the three guarded gates, and two gates on either side of the river is strictly off limits as a normal precaution as patrols do not venture very far into the dense undergrowth surrounding our fair city. Those sponsored trips along the rivers by city barges are now canceled until further notice due to increasing tribal boundary disputes along the river.
A city wide alert is cast for Rubardo Untafu and Kuatchi Knurbet, native citizens wanted for the attempted collaring of a high caste free woman for purposes of ransom. These men are not to be approached, their whereabouts is to be reported immediately to any of the warriors of the city.

A New Feature!
The Schendi Tribune would like to introduce a new feature for future issues. Each issue, we will highlight one special citizen of Schendi, chosen by you, the readers!

State of Affairs for the Docks and Harbor of Schendi
On the night of Orrin Christof and Bella Marvolo's joining, the carved statue out front of the paga den of a kajira in the position of service was stolen and last seen being hung on the prow of a ship. Two ships of the pirate patrol intercepted the ship and retrieved the carving and replaced it in front of the paga den.
The Thassan Watch is currently preparing a series of war games to train for the event of a hostile ship assault, repelling a ship from attacking the harbor, and an all out war game that will be a mock assault on the city of Schendi from the Thassa, to include assaults made on the harbor, the beaches, and any other point were access may be gained into the city. Security will be very tight to ensure that the Thassan Watch plays the part of the opposing force, and no privateers can blend in with the op force to use as a chance to do some looting. These war games are still in the planning process and will be ready within the next two months.
The Thassan Watch grows again. We welcome to our ranks Erik Ost. He will take his place among the officers of the watch and will be 3rd officer in the chain of command. Congratulations Erik and welcome aboard.
A sailor from one of the merchant ships owned by Dimitri Darkstar was found murdered on the docks late in the night. A full investigation is in progress and the perpetrator of this crime will be found and punished. Commander of the Watch, Conner Rhys Monroe is heading the investigation personally.
Maintenance of the inner docks will be performed over the next two hands and all ships should be transferred to the outer docks nightly so the maintenance can be finished without trouble.
Remember, the Thassan Watch is always in place for the protection of Schendi and her water ways. If you have any information about any trouble that may be occurring or occurring in the future feel free to contact any one of the three officers of the watch, Commander Conner Rhys Monroe (connrhysmonroe), 2nd Officer CJ Ehren (cjehren) or newly appointed 3rd Officer Erik Ost (xxerikost).
How Big is the Baby at 3 Hands Pregnant?
At this point in time at pregnancy 3 hands your baby is too small to detect with the naked eye even though he is growing remarkable fast. By about pregnancy hand 3 your baby consists of a ball of cells that can fit into the head of a needle. As you continue to monitor your pregnancy hand by hand you will find your baby resembles a blob more than a baby, but this will change rapidly in the hands to come.
Many people wonder at pregnancy hand 3 what their chances might be for having twins. Twins generally occur when more than one egg is released from your ovary or ovaries. Your eggs can be fertilized by two separate sperm, which would result in fraternal or dizygotic twins. Identical twins develop when one egg is fertilized but later divides into two. When twins are identical they have the same chromosomal makeup, so they have to be the same gender and have the same physical characteristics.
Multiple combinations are possible when triplets and quadruplets result. Three or more eggs for example can be fertilized to result in triplets. One fertilized egg sometimes splits into identical twins and another egg may be fertilized separately to result in triplets. The human body is endless with possibilities. The entire process is truly remarkable.
If you have a family history of multiples you are more likely to conceive multiples than someone who does not. Just because you have a history of twins in the family however does not guarantee that you will have twins. Women who are 'multiparous' meaning they have had more than one baby, are more likely to have twins than first time moms.
